Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I schedule an appointment for real estate marketing?

A: You may contact us via phone, text, or email to arrange your booking. All relevant contact information can be found on our Contact Page. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility we can offer in securing a convenient appointment time for you and your clients.

Q: How much notice is required to schedule a photography session?

A: We recommend providing at least 2–3 business days’ notice to ensure availability for your preferred date and time. While we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, availability is limited, and advanced notice is always preferred.

Q: How long does a real estate photography appointment take?

A: The duration of the appointment varies depending on the size of the property. On average, a standard photography session takes approximately one hour minutes to 90 minutes. Smaller homes typically require 45 minutes, while larger two-storey homes may take up to 2 hours hours.

Q: When is the best time of day for real estate photography?

A: While we are flexible and will work around your availability, ideal lighting conditions vary based on the orientation of the property:

  • East-facing homes: Best photographed in the morning
  • West-facing homes: Best in the early afternoon
  • North-facing homes: Best early in the morning before the sun is high

We’re happy to advise on the optimal time when scheduling your session.

Q: Who should be present at the property during the appointment?

A: We recommend that either the vendor or real estate agent be present, especially if the property is furnished. For vacant properties, unattended access is acceptable provided we have prior arrangement and entry details.

Q: Can the vendor remain at the property during the shoot?

A: Yes, however, we ask that all cleaning and staging be completed before our arrival. For the best results, we kindly request that vendors minimise distractions and ensure children and pets are kept away from our equipment during the session.

Q: Can you photograph an unfurnished property?

A: Absolutely. While furnished or professionally staged homes generally present better in photos, we are fully equipped to photograph vacant properties. Additionally, we offer virtual furniture staging at an extra cost to help enhance the appeal of empty rooms. Visit our Virtual Staging page to view examples.

Q: Why should I hire a professional photographer instead of using a friend or family member?

A: While well-meaning, amateur photography rarely meets the standards required for professional real estate marketing. Our team specialises in real estate and architectural photography, using advanced equipment and techniques to highlight a property’s most marketable features. High-quality images not only attract buyers but also enhance your own brand as a real estate professional.

Q: Who owns the rights to the photos and videos?

A: All images and marketing materials produced by Front Door Media remain under our copyright ownership. As our client, you are granted a license to use the material for your personal marketing purposes. These images may not be distributed or used by third parties (e.g., builders, stylists, contractors) without our express written permission.

Q: How can I prepare a property for photography?

A: To ensure your home is camera-ready, we offer a detailed pre-shoot checklist available for download on our Home Preparation page. These guidelines cover everything from cleaning and decluttering to styling tips, helping you and your vendors get the most out of your session.

Q: What type of equipment do you use?

A: We use professional-grade Nikon camera bodies paired with wide-angle and zoom lenses, as well as tripods, drones, gimbals, 360° cameras, and more. This allows us to deliver high-quality media across all property types and formats.

Q: When will I receive my photos, floor plans, or videos?

A: In most cases, your photos, floor plans, and 360° virtual tours will be delivered by 9:00 AM the next business day. For example, if your appointment is Wednesday at 11:00 AM, you can expect delivery by Thursday morning. Video files are typically delivered within 48 hours of the shoot.
You will receive your files via a Dropbox link, including:

  • High-resolution images suitable for print
  • Web-optimised images for online platforms

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us by phone 0412 400 825 or email kyri@frontdoormedia.com.au as early as possible. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time will incur a $75 cancellation fee.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: In the event of rain, we will proceed with interior photography as scheduled. If weather conditions prevent suitable exterior images, we will return at no extra charge on the next appropriate day to complete the shoot. We kindly ask that you monitor weather forecasts and contact us if you prefer to reschedule in advance due to poor weather.

Q: Do you travel outside Sydney for real estate photography?

A: Yes, we service all areas across Sydney and surrounding regions. For properties located more than 40km outside our base radius, a small travel fee will apply.
